Chris Bassett is a personal and private chef who is best known as the husband of RHOP (Real Housewives of Potomac) star Candiace Dillard. He thrives in the ever-changing, high-pressure environment that the food and beverage industry can provide. Chris has proudly created, directed, and implemented cocktail and food programs throughout the DMV area and enjoys the hands-on nature that his industry provides.
Bassett can also be booked as a personal chef, a new venture since he began appearing on Real Housewives of Potomac.
In Alexandria, Virginia, he owns a barbecue restaurant named Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ. Myron Mixon’s barbecue is featured at the hotel, owned by celebrity chef and four-time World Champion Myron Mixon.
Chris attributes his first real introduction to the world of cooking to his father’s culinary creativity and willingness to try new foods.
Still marching to his own drum, Chris was told by his father that he needed to get a job and pay rent or go to the military.
His 25+ year career in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry took him from top honors at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Miami to a slew of leadership roles as curator of multiple beverage projects, General Manager, Food and Beverage Director, and now, Owner, GM, and Beverage Director at barbeque giant Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque in Alexandria, VA.
Chris introduced to the world CBasswithDill Catering – a play on his wedding hashtag – and the ultimate introduction to this chef’s concentration on full-service catering, culinary workshops, meal prep facilities, and the private chef experience in January 2020, after years of preparation and checking.
Chris began his career at the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island, Florida, where his mother lived.
Chris was raised in a working-class family by his father and stepmother.
Basset hasn’t seen his eldest son in ten years because of problems with his child’s mother. He is working hard to reunite with his son.
Chris met Candiace Dillard Bassett while doing his rounds at work one day while working his way up the ranks in DC. After years of friendship, they fell in love after one long date and never looked back, marrying in August of 2018 at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC.
