The ring name Evie was given to Kai when she wrestled on the independent scene. This is the name you’d give a wrestler, but it wasn’t just one drawn out of a hat. When Kai named the game, he thought of his favorite Pokémon, Eevee.
When Kai used this name, she wrestled in many promotions worldwide, like IPW, PWWA, Shine, and Shimmer. She became known as a strong wrestler because of this.

Dakota Kai was born Cheree Georgina Crowle in Los Angeles, California, on May 6, 1988. She is currently 35 years old, and while she is not one of NXT’s youngest talents, she is still young enough to impact the main roster significantly in the coming years.
She changed her name when she joined the WWE. Her old name, Evie, was dropped in favor of Dakota Kai.
But, again, this name had significance because it was a nod to Kai’s Samoan roots. She is from New Zealand but has a hybrid ethnicity as she has called herself an Irish / Samoan hybrid.
The word “Kai” means sea, intended to show how she had to cross oceans to get where she is now. When Kai’s mother was born, she came from the island of Upolu. Moreover, during the 40s and 50s, her father was a New Zealand All-Black team member.
Kai grew up in an active household in Auckland, New Zealand. She and her siblings had participated in athletics at a young age as their father had prioritized sports for them. Furthermore, she got into WWE because of her brother, as he used to watch it all the time.
Eventually, she hooked on wrestling and became a fan of The Rock and his wrestling style. Now, her younger sister, Nyrene, is a mixed martial artist competing for the most prominent MMA organization in Asia, and Earl, her younger brother, is a DJ.
Further, Her family has a rich athletic background as her grandpa Pat Crowley was a member of the All Blacks for New Zealand in 1949 and 1950, respectively. All in all, she loves her family and credits them for her successful career.

Kai Was Had Lived With Duke Hudson and Elliot Sexton
Kai had reportedly dated Duke Hudson, as he shared a tweet where he mentioned her. In October 2017, he tweeted, “So Dakota Kai puts these up a week before Stranger Things Season 2. Yeah, I’ll sleep well.”
Furthermore, in April 2018, Duke even said she was his amazing partner performing at Wrestlemania while uploading a live snap of her during the event. However, Fox Sports mentioned that she was living with another fellow wrestler, Elliot Sexton, in Orlando in February 2019.
Additionally, a site has mentioned that Elliot and Kai are engaged. She and her fiance made that decision when she moved to Orlando after working for Shimmer Women Athletes, World Wonder Ring Stardom, and many more for nine years.
Dakota Kai has also been linked to wrestlers such as Shayna Baszler, Tegan Nox, and Shane Thorne. However, she has never officially stated that she was in a relationship with them.
Kai appears to wish to keep her dating life private from the rest of the world. Nevertheless, she has yet to update her fans about the status of her current relationship.

Dokta Kai’s sexuality has been the subject of much speculation. Allegedly dating her fellow wrestler, Shayna Baszler, is a rumor.
Kai and Baszler visited Shayna’s father in winter, according to a Wrestling Bible Facebook page in 2019. Fans like Shayna and Dakota have also seen the two on Twitch streamers.
Shayna Baszler, on the other hand, is openly bisexual. When she declared in 2013 that she dates both men and women, she went public.
