He stated when he was working with Samurai Deeper Kyo and Mahou Sensei Negima! where, half of the artists in the magazine were women.
He continued, “In ‘Jujutsu Kaisen,’ there is also a woman as the author, right? Demon Slayer is also written by a woman, and I think that’s great.”
However, many fans believe Akutami is a man because of an earlier interview with Bleach author Tite Kubo, in which the author discussed attending an all-male junior and high school and used masculine pronouns.
One Twitter user also tweeted in 2021, clearing the confusion about the gender, saying Akutami is a man.
Moreover, he professed that he had watched, listened to, and translated over two hours of his TV interview, where he pronounced himself a man.
