Kyle Chandler has always been an animal lover, ever since he was a little boy. His mother Sally was a dog breeder. She used to raise Great Dane for various dog shows. This way, the Emmy winner was always around dogs, helping his mother raise them. He used to travel with his parents to go to dog shows and also help them at their dog boarding kennel.
Kyle Chandler told in an interview with the Men’s Journal that his connection with his dad was built with the help of their dog, Lilly. His most precious moments with his dad before he died included the time when they would go to get icecreams after school with Kyle’s love — Lily.
It is no surprise that he met the love of his life at a dog park. Kathryn herself is an animal lover so she along with her husband adopted the animals of his mother.

After the death of his mother in 2014, the actor kept her memory alive with the help of animals. He along with his wife and two daughters lived in a 33-acre ranch with all the animals — dogs and miniature donkeys.
Kyle told the Men’s Journal that every time he came home from his shoots, they would have another dog. He didn’t mind it because he loved the feeling of building a fire and sitting out there with his dogs.
The youngest Chandler, Sawyer shares her passion for animals like her parents and grandparents. She along with her father advocated against shark finning. She was invested in raising awareness and did so by opening her own website. Kyle also helped her raise awareness via The Ellen Show by using Ellen’s platform to spread the news about his daughter’s website.

Kyle Chandler and his wife Kathryn adopted a dog from Austin Pets Alive! amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) took it upon their Instagram to show their appreciation to the Chandlers.
Chandlers’ who went to the shelter to foster a dog ended up adopting the sweet little Clive into their family. The APA! revealed that this was not the first time that the avid animal lovers had opened their arms to adopt a dog from their shelter. They thanked the couple for showing their evergreen love and support to the shelter animals.
