How Cancer Took Away Melissa
Born in 1979, Melissa was known to have sweet nature since her childhood. Loved by all around her, she lived her life to the fullest. But, at the mere age of twenty-one, her body turned against her, and she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
The devastating truth turned her life upside down when it was further discovered that cancer had spread to her major organs and was taking over her liver than well.
However, going through a series of treatments, Melissa was miraculously free of cancer just before a month of her wedding with Camp.
But, soon after the wedding, the devastating reality again hit the couple when they found cancer had returned, and this time it was way stronger, affecting Melissa’s entire body. Despite the treatment, cancer took her life on February 5, 2001.
Camp’s Love for Melissa
Although death parted the couple, it could never lessen Camp’s love for her. The couple’s magical love story began after meetingeach other in 1999 at a bible study. The Jesus’ followers instantly fell in love.
The couple discontinued their relationship shortly while Melissa, a huge Jesus believed, focused on her life goals. In 2000, when she was hospitalized because of cancer, the Christian songwriter couldn’t contain himself and rushed back to see her, and their love story began again.
As an expression of their love, the couple soon got engaged, and Camp stayed by her side the whole time, taking care of her. Hoping to spend their lives together, they announced their wedding to be on October 21, 2000. As if God’s blessing, miraculously, just a month before their wedding, Melissa was free of cancer, but it returned shortly and took her life.
Their magical love story was recently turned into a movie named I Still Believe, released in 2020. The beautifully portrayed movie, ranked as 2020s top romantic movie, touched millions’ hearts. The singer also wrote a song, I Still Believe, dedicated to his wife. The words in his song reflect his pain of losing her and portraits his never-dying love for her.
Moving On from the Tragic Incident and Having A New Family
Losing his first wife was a life-altering event in his life. As the wonder of fate, he met his beautiful wife Adriene Camp through music, the lead singer in the band the Benjamin Gate, before they disbanded in 2003.
The couple strengthened their bond by marriage in 2003 and have been blessed with three wonderful children, Isabella Camp, Arianne Camp, and Egan Camp.
2020 marks the seventeenth year of their beautiful relationship, and they expressed their love through Instagram posts.
Despite dealing with the harsh reality and struggling through the loss, Camp found true love and is married happily once again but, his love for Melissa has never faded in the slightest.
