Jon Courson is a famous American Author and a Bible studies teacher. He is the author of a Future and a Hope, A Day’s Journey, And a Place for You, A-Pillar by Day, and the three-volumes Jon Courson’s Application Commentary.

He was the founder of Applegate Christian Fellowship, a non-denominational church in southern Oregon with a congregation of twenty people in 1977.  

He began this path as a youth pastor for a local church in San Jose, California. His Church faster from twenty people to 8000 people, and soon, it was the largest Church in South Oregon.

This Church then became the most significant Church in South Oregon, which taught people how to walk in the path of God.

The author left the city and Church to his late son, Peter, and joined his mentor Reverend Chuck Smith in California at his Church in 2002. Later, he left California, moved to Carmen Serdan in Mexico, and started training young men to become pastors. In March 2006, he left Mexico, returned to his Church, and began co-pastoring with his son.

Jon Courson’s First Wife Died In an Accident

Firstly, Jon Courson was married to Terry Courson. The couple was blessed with three children named Peter-John, Jessi, and Ben. They are living happily until a tragic incident happens in their life. In March of 1982, Jon Courson’s first wife, Terry, died in a terrible accident, leaving this world at the age of 28.

Then twelve years later, Jon’s eldest daughter, Jessi, also died in a car accident when she was only 16 years old. After facing his wife and daughter’s death, a few years later, he fell in love with the artist and blogger named Tammy Courson. The couple tied the knot in 1985 and was blessed with two children named Mary and Christy.

Jon Courson’s Son Peter John Was Diagnosed With Cancer

Jon Courson wasn’t faced only the wife and daughter incident, but the author also had to face other problems. His son Peter-Jon had a severe health issue. He had to fight Crohn’s disease for over 20 years and was ultimately diagnosed with Colon cancer as an adult.

Peter had also undergone brain surgery and was hospitalized several times because of his disease. Then, he spent some time receiving treatment in a hospice and eventually passed away on February 5, 2019. At the moment, he has four daughters and a wife. Losing his three family members was the most depressing part of the author’s life.

Jon Courson hasn’t had any health problems till now. He is magnificent and lives happily with his wife. But, Courson’s son, Peter John, was diagnosed with cancer and died at 41.

Jon Courson now lives in Southern Oregon with his wife, Tammy. In 2002, Courson was in Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California to join his longtime mentor and friend Chuck Smith. Then, he moved to Carmen Serdan to teach at a pastor training school in 2005. Eventually, he returned to southern Oregon to join his son Peter-John Courson pastoring at Applegate Christian Fellowship in 2006.
